STILL PHOTO OF JUVENTUS VICE PRESIDENT, PAVEL NEDVED, CELEBRATING WITH TEAM ON PITCH AFTER WIN STORY: Juventus won Serie A for the ninth season in a row on Sunday (July 26), but with the stands empty, celebrations in Turin were also more subdue. Scattered groups celebrated near the stadium singing and waving flags while others took to San Carlo Square in Turin's city centre. Most, but not all, fans wore face masks as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be a threat here and throughout most of the world. Cristiano Ronaldo set the tone for Juventus leading them to a 2-0 win over Sampdoria to claim the title. The Portuguese veteran broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time with his 31st league goal of the season and Federico Bernardeschi added the second. Ronaldo's evening ended on a sour note when he smashed a penalty against the crossbar after Alex Sandro was fouled. Juve, in their first season under coach Maurizio Sarri, clinched the title with two games to spare despite a stuttering run in which they won only one out of five matches before Sunday.
